I am a fully registered and accredited BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) counsellor with eight years experience of working with a wide range of clients in the NHS, and in Commercial, Public and Voluntary sectors. I originally started my career in the 1990's as a nurse and worked for the NHS for over 12 years, before going on to retrain as a counsellor and therapist. I hold a first-class honours degree in counselling with brief interventions and am a fully qualified Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner. I presently work in Rochdale from my own private counselling room and in Saddleworth from the Apolonia Dental Clinic. As a person I am both compassionate and empathic, I value others and am passionate about supporting clients through the challenges life brings.
I run a thriving counselling service and believe that for counselling to work an accepting, respectful and trusting relationship enables my clients to look at different aspects of their life, relationships and themselves which they may not have considered before. I help clients to look at the options open to them and find a place in which it would be safe and possible to make life changes or just sit, explore and understand what they are experiencing. Quite often in my counselling room I hear the words:
‘My problems seem so small compared to others, I think I may be wasting your time’
And my response is that you couldn't be farther from the truth, If part of your life is hurting then you are as entitled as the next person and welcome at my door!
